ALTERATIONS

“What do I need to bring to an appointment?”

Please bring the shoes and undergarments (i.e. spandex) that you plan on wearing with your wedding gown to all your appointments.

“When should I book an appointment?”

Our recommendation is to book your first fitting at least 3 months before your wedding. If you have major concerns about sizing alterations or re-style/reconstructing gowns, then we recommend scheduling a Consultation at our Deephaven or North Loop location as soon as possible.

“Can I still book an appointment if I miss the 3 months mark?”

Yes! We recommend calling your preferred location to schedule an appointment asap if you are passed the recommended 3 months mark. If you are within 6 weeks before your wedding we would consider you a Rush. A $150.00-$250.00 Rush Charge will be added to your total alterations cost because we will have to try to get your 3 Fittings done in such a short amount of time. (based on time and difficulty).

“What is the difference between a Consultation and a First Fitting?”

A Consultation is meant to help brides receive a quote on alterations for their wedding gown. It will also give brides the option to think about the quote and compare quotes with other places before finalizing their decision. The Consultation fee is $35.00.

Whereas a First Fitting appointment is meant to be the start of the process of Alterations and payment is expected after the fitting.

“Is the Consultation an extra charge?”

The Consultation fee will always be applied towards your total Alterations cost and is not an additional charge if you have your gown altered at Evermore.

“Will I need to reschedule another appointment if I decide I would like to go with Evermore after a Consultation?”

Yes and No! Your Consultation appointment can turn into your First Fitting if you are near the recommended 3 months mark for alterations. However, depending on your timeline and the amount of alterations you need, we may recommend coming in closer to the 3 months mark and we can usually schedule your appointment out with you.

“How much are Alterations?”

Alterations generally range anywhere between $300.00 – $1200.00 without taxes depending on how many alterations are needed and how detailed your gown is. Once the Tailor sees your gown on you, she will be able to give you the full quote up front. This quote range is not the same for re-cuts or remakes/reconstructed gown alterations.

“What does Re-cut or Remake mean?”

Re-cuts are gowns that need to either be altered down sizes or up sizes. Whereas Remakes are when vintage gowns are reconstructed to become more modern.

“How much are Alterations for Re-cuts/Remakes?”

Depending on the gown’s style, material and amount of detail, Alterations for Re-cuts/Remakes can range anywhere from $500.00 – $3,000.00 without taxes. If you have a Re-cut or a Remake gown, we recommend scheduling a Consultation ahead of the recommended 3 months timeline at our Deephaven location.

“How many appointments are there?”

There are usually 3 fittings possible, but there can be more depending on how many alterations are needed.

“When do I get my dress back?”

We do our best to have your last fitting at least 1-2 weeks before the wedding date. For Rushes, you may receive your gown within the same week of your wedding date. We will always ensure that there is extra time in case there are any minor adjustment that is needed.

“Do you alter Bridesmaid gowns too?”

Yes! We alter both Bridesmaid and Mother of the Bride gowns!

“When should I schedule an appointment if I’m a Bridesmaid or Mother of Bride?”

We recommend scheduling your appointment at least 6 weeks before the wedding date or when you leave if the wedding is a destination wedding.

“How many appointments do Bridesmaids/Mother of THE BRIDE need?”

There are usually 2 fittings possible, but there can be more depending on how many alterations are needed and how detailed your gown is.

“How much are Alterations for Bridesmaids/Mother of the bride?”

Generally anywhere between $65.00 – $375.00 without taxes depending on the gown’s style, material and how many alterations are needed.

CLEANING & PRESERVATION

“I don’t need Preservation, Do you offer Cleaning without Preservation?”

Yes, we do!

“What are the differences between Cleaning and Cleaning & Preservation?”

Cleaning is recommended for brides who are either planning to wear their gown again or sell their gown. The gown will also not come back in a box.

Cleaning & Preservation is recommended for brides who plan to keep their gown long term. The gown will come back in a museum archival chest filled with acid free tissue and white gloves. It will also come with instructions on how to care for the gown over the years and a 100% international guarantee against yellowing and caramelizing.

“How much is Cleaning?”

Cleaning can generally range anywhere between $350.00 – $450.00 without taxes depending on the gown’s style, material and how much soiling it has.

“How much is Cleaning & Preservation?”

Cleaning & Preservation is a $50.00 difference from cleaning and can range anywhere between $350.00 – $700.00 without taxes.

“Do I need an appointment to bring my gown in for Cleaning/Cleaning &  Preservation?”

No! Walk-ins are welcome so come in whenever works best for you! The  Consultation takes about 15 minutes and, once we take a look at your gown with  you, we can give you an accurate quote.

“Does Evermore do Spot Cleaning?”

Yes, we do! It is $25.00 per a small spot, but certain gowns will not be able to be spot cleaned due to their material. Some silk gowns will have water marks if spot cleaned and will need full cleaning to prevent any water marks.

“How long does Cleaning take?”

Cleaning may take anywhere between 4-10 weeks as we hand clean all gowns. If you need a quicker turnaround time or if cleaning is needed before the wedding date, we will always do our best to accommodate depending on how busy our cleaning specialists are.

“Do YOU offer Steaming or Pressing services?”

Yes, we do! The Steaming/Pressing quote can range anywhere between $159.00 - $200.00 without taxes depending on how big the gown is and how much material it has. The gown will have a bust form inside it to keep its shape and be ready to walk down the aisle in.

“When should I bring my gown in if I only need Steaming/Pressing?”

We recommend bringing the gown in at least 1 - 3 weeks before the wedding date and scheduling a pick-up date. Most brides usually choose to pick-up 1 – 2 days before their wedding date. If you are having your gown altered with us, we will ensure we have time for pressing your gown should it need it after your alterations are finished.
